This week started a new class for beginners here at Beadphoria. To help students find what tools they need, we hand out this checklist. We hope it’s useful to you, too!
Crimper – Specific to jewelry making, used to flatten crimp tubes to finish bracelets and necklaces.
Round Nose Pliers – Has a circle on the ends of the pliers. Used to making loops for earrings, pendants, and wire work.
Chain Nose Pliers– Has semi-circle on the ends of the pliers. Used for gripping wire and to open and close loops and jump rings.
Flat Nose Pliers– Has rectangle on the ends of the pliers. Useful for holding large sections of wire and bending wire.
Wire Cutters – Also known as flush cutters or nippers. Cuts wire, headpins, and eye pins.
Bead Board*- For laying out your designs for bracelets and necklaces. Multi-channeled are best. The outer edge is in inches, with the inner in centimeters.
Bead Mat– Keeps your beads from rolling on the floor. Especially important if you have small children or pets.
End Clamps – Helps keep your beads on the wire while you are stringing a necklace or bracelet.
All of these items (and many more!) are available in the Beadphoria Boutique. You can also find them at your local bead or hobby store.
