One of the advantages of beading as a hobby is that it is one that is highly portable. A few tools, a little beading wire or thread, some findings, and various beads will enable you to make jewelry wherever you are. Here are some tips while beading on the go:
Use a cookie sheet lined with a bead mat can be a lap desk for long car rides. The lip of the cookie sheet helps beads from ending up on the car floor.
Empty medicine bottles a great for transporting small beads and findings. Child-proof lids keep beads from ending up in the bottom of your bag.
An old cosmetic bag is wonderful for keeping everything in one place.
If traveling by plane, check with tsa.gov for current guidelines on what tools can be brought aboard. When in doubt, bring inexpensive tools that are on the smaller side.
The Bead Directory from BeadingDaily.com has listings for bead shops both nationally and internationally. Why not take a class while in a relaxed environment? Also, beads can be beautiful souvenirs.
